From Judit Csejtey:

50 years! - yet, vivid memories come to my mind! Snow covered gruonds, tall trees, beautiful buildings - but most of all: the kindness of the American people!  Our teacher, Mrs. Blackburn, a gracious and infinitely patient lady, slowly enunciating: "repeat after me".  And we tried, tried very hard. eager to learn, to tackle the opportunities that our new country offered.

I am forever grateful for the generosity that Bard College extended to me that time, sent me on the road to become a proud, productive American citizen.

From Chaszar Ede to Laszlo Bito (and for all alumni/ae of Bard program):

Kedves Laszlo!

From Dr. Andrew Felkay:

For the record, following the Bard/Orientation program, after some initial work, I graduated from Brooklyn College, B.A., City University of NY (Hunter) M.A., Temple U., PhD.  After 40 years of teaching at Kutztown University, in 2005 I retired.

From Laszlo Ravasz:

I was one of the lucky Hungarians who stayed at Bard College fifty years ago.  I really appreciate this opportunity that was given to me, and will be forever grateful to those who made it possible.  From Bard, I went to the University of Colorado, and later, to the University of Hawaii, where I had received a BBA in Travel Industry Management.  After working for several hotel companies in a variety of management positions, I have retired in Hawaii in 2001.

From Charlotte Remenyik:

Charlotte Remenyik of 56' is attending Hungary 56' conference at Bard and would like to share transportation with someone from the Midwest. Please email her at cremenyik@cox.net for details.

From Maryll Telegdy:

I will never forget Malcolm Bilson our local counselor with whom I later connected in Hungary where he gave a concert.  The world is so small that I had known his later than Bard days wife from childhood.

From Dr. Stephen Hegedus:

Ferenc Kacsinta, Alexander Hegedus, my brother, and I gave many haircuts to our fellow classmates at Bard College.  You may have suspected, but now I will confirm, that I never held a hair cutting scissors in my hands before that day.  Even I was embarrassed by the results my brother created in his attempt to be a barber.

From Dr. Ferenc Holly:

Dear Former School Mates at Bard,  Ex-Hungarian Students:

Unfortunately, I studied English at Bard only for about a month in January of 1957.  Even at 50 new English words per day, that was not quite enough to communicate fluently in English but it did give me a solid linguistic foundation (sufficient so I had to take no more formal English courses) .   In February, I bravely(?)  set out on a bus heading for Cornell for the Spring Semester where Watermargin fraternity provided me with a home, then in June a summer camp counselor job in Vermont. This latter position, being in charge of 3 lively 10 year old boys, finally enabled me to start to speak fluent English by the time the Fall Semester started.  I also managed to pass my qualifying exams at the end of August and was allowed to work for my doctorate in physical chemistry.

I am looking forward to be with you all at the Celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary.

From Marianne Schweitzer (Marika Barnett):

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend, though I have such fond memories of the one month I spent there. I arrived there exactly 50 years ago* and stayed to the end of the program.
